Things to consider also is that you may have to replace or repair vents which you will have to figure into the costs.
Permits and Insurance: This is probably one thing that you did not account for. Depending on where you live, you will have to research whether or not you are going to need a permit or insurance to do the work yourself. Professional contractors have to have a license and insurance, you can find this out on your counties local government website or by calling your local Town Hall office. They will help you with any information you need and in the event that you need a permit, they will help you get one.
Labor: Labor actually means doing the work, so be prepared to spend a lot of time on this project. Professional roofers come with a crew and sometimes the job takes more than one day. Gather a group of friends and enlist their help. If you choose to do the roof yourself it may take a week or more depending on how many hours you spend on it. Having a group of three or more friends can get you a new roof in as little as 3 days.
